Continuous Arm Windsor Chair with plainer turnings by Colin Foxhall

This chair is made of Local Ash components with an English Ash seat. The finish is first stained, then three coats of shellac, rubbed down in between coats and finally a little dark wax.

Based on the American Continuous Arm style but with a plainer single swelling shape for the legs, stretchers and arm supports. The graceful arm bow has also been made simpler in form. This design relies heavily on the three dimensional sweep of its steam bent arm bow for its appeal.

Most types of Windsor chair can be made with simpler turnings.
