English Yeoman's Bow Windsor Chair by
Colin Foxhall.
This style of chair (also know as a low-back) is very
traditional and was usually made in the east Midlands
area of England.
This chair is made of Devon Ash wood components with
an English Ash seat. The finish is stained, with shellac
and wax. Backsplats can be made in a variety of patterns.
The arm and back bows are steam bent out of solid timber.
Originals can usually be found in Antique shops, but
they have often suffered from misuse, and the small
stretchers to the back legs are often broken or loose.
If you already have one of these chairs, why not
preserve its value and save it from future damage by
ordering a couple of copies which you can use as much as
you like without fear of breakage! Then you can have the
original repaired.
Colin Foxhall's workshop is near Tavistock, Devon, UK.
