Pete White worked as an Avionics Engineer for 11 years before deciding to pusue his real passion in cabinet making.
He and his wife Ciara established Tamar Valley Woodworks at Gunnislake, Cornwall in 1999, specialising in built-in cabinet work, staircases and other one-off joinery, mainly in English hardwoods. Bespoke and fitted kitchens form a major part of the business. Pete is motivated by the enjoyment he gets from his work and the enthusiastic feedback he receives from his customers. Pete White has built up a reputation for fine cabinet making and joinery skills and an eye for creative design solutions. He puts these talents to good use designing and making built-in furniture for kitchens, studies, bedrooms and living rooms. Pete also specialises in solid wood staircases..
Depending on the customers requirements Pete can offer a complete bespoke kitchen service. This involves managing everything from the design, build and installation of hand crafted cabinets, right through to worktops and appliances, electrics and plumbing. A key feature of this service is the organisation of the many components and trades which combine in the process of creating a finished kitchen which functions as well as it looks.
All Pete’s products are hand made to a high standard of craftsmanship, combining traditional cabinet making and joinery techniques with modern tooling. He uses good quality timber from certified suppliers, locally sourced where ever possible.
